The Doctor of Musical Arts (D.M.A.) in conducting degree curriculum consists of five key components: primary focus on conducting, a secondary specialization area, studies in music history and theory, higher education in music, and research. Students can choose their minor concentration from any available major field options not selected as their primary focus, or from music theory or musicology/ethnomusicology disciplines.
Degree candidates must complete a minimum of two back-to-back semesters as full-time students at the University of Georgia campus, registering for at least 20 credit hours of consecutive coursework included in their degree plan. Note that residency credits applied toward another degree cannot count toward fulfilling this program's requirements.
