Forestry involves the sustainable stewardship of woodlands to balance societal needs for timber, fresh water, and outdoor activities while protecting ecosystems, animal species, and plant life, as well as contributing to climate regulation. UGA's Forestry program ranks among the nation's five best, offering Georgia's sole SAF-accredited four-year degree that qualifies graduates for Certified Forester certification. The coursework delivers comprehensive knowledge of forest environments, diverse perspectives on forest use, and conservation strategies. Learners hone analytical abilities through practical fieldwork, collaborative projects, case studies, and mandatory internships. Specialization options include: Timber Management, Forestry Economics, Outdoor Recreation, Forest Ecology, City Forestry, Environmental Policy, or Timber Utilization.
