The Bachelor of Arts in Theatre program at the University of Georgia offers students a comprehensive foundation in all aspects of theatrical arts.
The curriculum includes essential theatre courses covering acting techniques, design principles, script analysis, and historical context. Practical coursework gives students hands-on experience in costume design, stage production, theater operations, and marketing. This program cultivates adaptable graduates with diverse skills, strong teamwork abilities, quick problem-solving capabilities, analytical thinking, clear communication skills, and the capacity to perform in high-pressure environments. IMPORTANT: While no audition is required for admission to the theatre program, advanced performance courses do mandate audition evaluations.
Program alumni frequently continue their education in specialized theatre disciplines or related fields like business, legal studies, and media communications. Graduates have established successful careers across various industries, from performance (including notable alumni like Wayne Knight, Kyle Chandler, and IronE T-Dog Singleton from The Walking Dead) to behind-the-scenes roles in set decoration, stunt coordination, arts management, costume creation, entertainment promotion, and digital effects production.
