The Master of Science in FYCS equips you with specialized expertise to advance toward a doctoral program in social sciences or take on leadership positions in fields like human services, social welfare, family education, nonprofit management, youth programs, or community development. The program focuses on practical approaches for designing and assessing human service initiatives while teaching interdisciplinary research methods you can implement directly in your workplace.
Our Nonprofit Organizational Development Concentration, available alongside the MS degree, provides vital training for establishing and maintaining successful nonprofits. The curriculum covers key areas such as organizational leadership, long-term strategy, donor development, liability prevention, and fiscal management.
To apply to the online MS degree, candidates must have:
A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution or a comparable degree from an international institution,
An undergraduate GPA of at least a B (3.0), calculated from all grades and credits after the semester where the applicant reached 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours, and
A GRE score must be submitted. These scores are used in the context of a holistic credential review process. Please contact the Department Coordinator of Academic Programs if you have questions about this requirement.
For applicants from countries (including Puerto Rico) where English is not the official language, a minimum score on one of these English Language Skills tests: Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): 550 paper, or 80 Internet; International English Language Testing System (IELTS): 6; Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB): 77, or documented successful completion of the University of Florida English Language Institute program.
