The Department of Sociology provides graduate studies culminating in a Master of Arts in sociology and contributes to a doctoral program in social psychology. The MA curriculum delivers comprehensive instruction in cutting-edge sociological theory along with diverse quantitative and qualitative research approaches. Sociology MA graduates gain qualifications for careers in applied research or social services, as well as for pursuing doctoral studies in sociology or social psychology.
Beyond core theory and methodology courses, the department features multiple classes exploring various sociological specialties. These offerings are structured at two distinct tiers:

Graduates should possess qualifications competitive for sociology PhD programs at institutions worldwide.
Graduates should qualify for professional positions in their specialization within both public and private sectors (including government agencies, research centers, and non-profit organizations).
MA recipients in Sociology will acquire demonstrated competence in performing independent research projects.
The requirements for acceptance as a graduate student in sociology are a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. A grade-point average of 3.0 or higher for four years of undergraduate work.
Minimum score requirements: TOEFL: 550 (paper) or 79 (internet), IELTS: 6.5 (academic version).
