The University of Florida's Composition Program draws global students with its world-renowned faculty and abundant performance chances for student works. UF provides extensive performance and recording possibilities primarily organized by students, who have the freedom to select professional artists and groups. The 2021-22 season featured distinguished guests like the JACK Quartet, Irvine Arditti, Ensemble dal Niente, Ekmeles, Sputter Box, Apply Triangle, Docl Reed Quintet, and Quince Ensemble. Students also compete for valuable large ensemble showcases, collaborating with groups such as the University Symphony Orchestra, UF Bands, Jazz Bands, and New Music Ensemble.

Qualification Requirements

Admission to the master's program is determined through a holistic admission process.
Applicants generally have a baccalaureate degree in music, or a closely related area, from an accredited U.S. institution or a comparable degree from an international institution. Students whose undergraduate degree is in another discipline must demonstrate a level of achievement fully acceptable for masters level work in this discipline. Applicants normally have completed at least 16 credits in music theory and 6 credits in music history. A candidate deficient in certain undergraduate areas must remove the deficiencies by successfully completing appropriate courses.

Applicants with a bachelor's degree only, a minimum grade point average of B (3.0), calculated from all grades and credits after the semester where the applicant reached 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours is required. For applicants from countries where English is not the ofcial language, a minimum score on one of these English Language Skills tests, IELTS - 6.0,TOEFL IBT- 80, PBT- 550.
