The Tropical Conservation and Development (TCD) specialization creates interdisciplinary learning environments where students can cultivate essential leadership abilities for careers in conservation and development. This specialization aligns with the TCD Program, which brings together graduate students from various fields at the University of Florida and provides a graduate-level certification option. Students who finish the TCD specialization qualify for the TCD Graduate Certificate, though a separate application is required.
The Center for Latin American Studies provides these graduate opportunities: A multidisciplinary Master of Arts in Latin American Studies, A graduate certificate in Latin American studies, and A specialized graduate certificate in Tropical Conservation and Development. The Latin American studies graduate curriculum draws from more than 250 courses with regional focus, offered across 35+ academic departments.
The MALAS program's distinctive strength comes from fostering exchanges among faculty and students with varied viewpoints, experiences, and identities. Participants work alongside 180 affiliated and core faculty from humanities, sciences, and professional schools to design personalized study plans incorporating university-wide course offerings. MALAS alumni pursue careers in education, research, international organizations, government, and private sector throughout the Americas, with many advancing to doctoral programs.
