The curriculum analyzes the roots, manifestations, and impacts of violence alongside peaceful strategies for managing, resolving, and transforming conflicts. Learners investigate how social, economic, cultural, political, and historical influences have shaped human conflict across Latin America. This academic track is especially valuable for those pursuing research or professional paths in legal and governmental sectors throughout the Americas. Students choose relevant courses from various UNM departments including Anthropology, Art, Communication and Journalism, Economics, History, Political Science, Sociology, and Spanish and Portuguese, as well as offerings from the UNM School of Law. The program is particularly recommended for students enrolled in the combined MALAS/JD degree program.
