The Education in the Americas specialization examines educational research, theories, and practices pertaining to Latin America and U.S. Latinx populations. This program's coursework enables comparative and regional studies of educational systems, policies, curricula, and teaching methods spanning K-12 schools, universities, and public education sectors. Using multidisciplinary perspectives, the specialization equips students for professional paths in education, policy-making, research, and international organizations.
The MALAS concentration in Education in the Americas explores scholarly research, theoretical frameworks, and practical applications concerning Latin American education and U.S. Latinx communities. Its academic structure facilitates cross-national examinations of schooling policies, instructional programs, and teaching approaches across various educational levels and settings. This interdisciplinary program prepares graduates for diverse careers in educational institutions, government agencies, research fields, and global organizations.
The Center for Latin American Studies provides these graduate options: An interdisciplinary MA in Latin American Studies, A graduate certificate in Latin American studies, plus specialized certificates in Tropical Conservation and Development. The Latin American studies graduate curriculum draws from over 250 region-focused courses offered across more than 35 academic departments within the university's colleges.
