Disability, Occupation, and Participation Science (DOPS) represents a distinctive interdisciplinary domain that enhances comprehension of disability, occupation, and participation across individual (micro), task-oriented (meso), and societal (macro) dimensions. This specialized area examines human functioning throughout life as individuals perform tasks, fulfill roles, and engage in activities (occupations) within specific contexts and environments, facilitating meaningful, fulfilling, and intentional involvement in everyday life. We view disability or illness as a social construct emerging from person-environment interactions, prioritizing research that incorporates community collaboration and amplifies perspectives from all involved parties - individuals with disabilities, their families, and healthcare professionals. Faculty mentors guide students, bringing expertise in creating, improving, and evaluating evidence-based approaches, as well as exploring foundational elements that shape evidence-informed rehabilitation methodologies.
