The Journalism major equips students with expertise across various journalistic disciplines, including reporting and narrative techniques. The curriculum focuses on fundamental abilities such as conducting interviews, crafting written content, working with multimedia/visual elements, broadcast techniques, and accessing public records, alongside instruction in legal standards and ethical guidelines. Students can specialize in broadcasting, subject-focused reporting, visual media, editorial/production work, or data-driven journalism, while also selecting from diverse elective options. Additionally, the program provides numerous hands-on learning experiences both within and beyond the academic environment.
Through coursework, students refine their narrative abilities—whether through text, imagery, or data visualization—equipping them for diverse media roles such as reporting, content creation, photography, editing, design, multimedia production, and broadcast journalism. The adaptable program structure prepares students for both conventional and emerging media formats. Strong writing proficiency is a cornerstone of the program. Alumni have secured positions with leading news organizations and media enterprises across various sectors, earning prestigious accolades including the Pulitzer Prize.
Students must have completed a secondary and college or university credentials from non-U.S. institutions.
The university will require the following minimum scores on the redesigned SAT: SAT Reading = 24, Writing and Language = 25 and Math = 24. On the ACT, a minimum score of 19 on the Reading section and 19 on the Math section.
