Food science is described as the field that applies biology, physical sciences, and engineering to examine food properties, understand spoilage factors, and explore food processing fundamentals, according to the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT). The University of Florida provides multiple food science programs, featuring an IFT-approved Bachelor of Science, along with Master of Science and Ph.D. options. Through structured education in food science, learners gain qualifications for roles in industrial food and beverage production, food innovation and formulation, food chemistry and microbiology testing facilities, government oversight bodies (FDA and USDA), as well as academic and research organizations.
Students must have completed a secondary and college or university credentials from non-U.S. institutions.
The university will require the following minimum scores on the redesigned SAT: SAT Reading = 24, Writing and Language = 25 and Math = 24. On the ACT, a minimum score of 19 on the Reading section and 19 on the Math section.
