Public awareness about nutrition's role in health and fitness has reached unprecedented levels and continues to grow. The Nutrition and Food Science Major combines biological, medical, and social sciences to enhance human nutrition, physical wellness, chronic disease prevention, and overall life quality. This interdisciplinary program blends scientific rigor with a focus on human services.
Students completing this degree develop expertise in human nutrition principles, disease prevention through diet, nutritional care delivery, and food preparation assessment methods. They also acquire skills in client interviewing, counseling strategies, data management, and clear communication techniques.
The major currently offers four specialized tracks: Dietetics and Nutrition Management, Nutrition and Fitness, Nutritional Sciences (Pre-Health), and Food Safety and Nutrition.
