The Japanese studies concentration within foreign languages and literatures enhances Japanese language skills while introducing students to Japan's literary traditions and cultural heritage. The program offers specialized coursework in business Japanese, classical texts, cinema studies, and gender studies. This concentration in the Foreign Languages and Literatures major serves as ideal preparation for graduate programs in East Asian studies or related disciplines (including anthropology, art history, historical studies, linguistics, political science, and religious studies). It also provides valuable background for professional degrees (in business, journalism, legal studies, or medicine) or careers in international relations, global trade, diplomatic services, language interpretation, cultural exchange, museum curation, library sciences, and the tourism industry.
Students must have completed a secondary and college or university credentials from non-U.S. institutions.
The university will require the following minimum scores on the redesigned SAT: SAT Reading = 24, Writing and Language = 25 and Math = 24. On the ACT, a minimum score of 19 on the Reading section and 19 on the Math section.
