The Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Languages and Literatures (FLL) equips students with in-depth expertise in one or more languages, along with advanced knowledge of the cultural contexts tied to their chosen language(s). This FLL major fosters analytical reasoning and effective communication while cultivating intercultural awareness relevant to today's global society. Students enjoy the flexibility to pursue either single or dual language specializations, with options to examine cultural studies through interdisciplinary lenses like Comparative Cultural Studies, Visual Media Studies, Regional Focus Areas, Literary Analysis, or Historical Period Studies. An FLL degree serves as strong preparation for diverse career paths, from advanced academic pursuits in language/cultural studies or humanities to professional opportunities in teaching, international relations, public service, security sectors, media, legal fields, arts management, and international commerce. Students are strongly advised to participate in UF-sponsored or approved study-abroad experiences.
