The Department of Romance Languages and Literatures (RLLT) provides multiple undergraduate degree options in French, Italian, or Spanish literature and culture, with possibilities to combine these with Catalan, Portuguese, Basque, or non-Romance languages from Iberian, Caribbean, and Latin American regions. These BA programs aim to cultivate both cultural-literary understanding and advanced language skills in one or more Romance languages. Students from other disciplines can pursue an RLLT minor. Prospective majors must consult with the French undergraduate advisor by Spring Quarter of their junior year to declare their major and complete necessary documentation. The department strongly recommends students work closely with this advisor to select their specialization and design their academic path. An approved major program form, signed by the French undergraduate advisor, must be submitted to the department office before the end of Spring Quarter in the student's third year.
