Students pursuing a Russian major develop strong language proficiency along with deep insights into Russian culture and daily life. The Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Languages and Literatures (FLL) equips learners with in-depth expertise in one or more languages while fostering advanced awareness of related cultural practices and traditions. This FLL major sharpens analytical abilities and communication techniques while cultivating global perspectives on modern society. The curriculum offers adaptable options for focusing on individual or multiple languages, alongside interdisciplinary cultural studies in areas like Comparative Cultural Studies, Film and Visual Culture, Intensive Regional Studies, Literary Analysis, and Medieval/Early Modern Research. An FLL degree serves as valuable preparation for diverse professional paths, including advanced studies in language/culture fields or humanities/social sciences, as well as careers in education, international relations, government service, security, media, legal professions, journalism, arts administration, publishing, and international commerce. Students are strongly encouraged to participate in UF-sponsored or approved study-abroad opportunities.
