The Master of Music in Performance program equips talented musicians with the skills needed for professional music careers. This highly competitive program offers abundant performance opportunities and pairs students with faculty mentors. Participants gain intensive practical experience performing Western classical music under the guidance of accomplished artist-educators. Alumni establish careers as performers, arts administrators, educators, and beyond.
Vocal students at Lamont train with Catherine Kasch, Matthew Plenk, Cody Laun, and Heidi Melton - a faculty team boasting more than fifty years of collective performance and teaching expertise. Sahar Nouri serves as Music Director for Lamont Opera Theatre. Students additionally refine their foreign language diction with Beth Nielsen, a specialist equally skilled in opera, art song, chamber music, and musical theater.
Lamont frequently hosts renowned guest artists for masterclasses and performances. Recent visiting artists have featured Christine Brewer, Michelle DeYoung, Ailyn Prez, Greg Carpenter, and Stefano de Peppo.
