The University of Delaware's School of Nursing provides a standard undergraduate program tailored for aspiring nurses, whether they're fresh high school graduates or students switching majors. This four-year, on-campus program allows direct entry into the Nursing curriculum starting from the first year.

The Traditional BSN program builds the core competencies needed for professional nursing while laying groundwork for advanced studies. Accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, the program starts with foundational courses in sciences, liberal arts, and introductory nursing during the first year. Nursing coursework intensifies each subsequent year, with hands-on clinical training beginning in the second year. Clinical placements occur primarily at healthcare facilities across Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey.

Clinical rotations expose students to diverse healthcare environments, including major hospitals throughout New Castle, Kent, and Sussex Counties, regional community hospitals, long-term care facilities, assisted living centers, and various community health providers serving all age groups. Training also occurs in advanced simulation labs. Graduates emerge as well-rounded nurse generalists with experience across specialties including pediatrics, women's health, mental health, medical-surgical care, and public health nursing.

Students can join organizations like the Student Nurses Organization, Multicultural Student Nurses Organization, Black Student Nurses Association, or Men in Nursing. High-achieving students may qualify for Sigma Theta Tau's Beta Xi Chapter, the international nursing honor society. Eligible students can participate in Honors programs, undergraduate research initiatives, and graduate with Distinction. Research opportunities are open to all undergraduate nursing students.
