The Nursing Department provides a bachelor's degree program culminating in a Bachelor of Science with a Nursing major. This major features two distinct tracks: Pre-Licensure and Post-Licensure.
Graduates earning a B.S. in Nursing will gain the ability to:
Integrate scientific, behavioral, and humanities knowledge with nursing theory to provide comprehensive patient care,
Deliver safe, empathetic healthcare services to diverse groups,
Employ analytical reasoning and effective communication to collaborate with patients and healthcare teams,
Assume responsibility for planning, implementing, and assessing patient care,
Exhibit professional conduct in all interactions with patients, families, peers, and communities.
The Post-Licensure track is exclusively available to California-licensed Registered Nurses. This curriculum enhances the foundation of an Associate Degree in Nursing, equipping students with advanced concepts and competencies for bachelor's-level nursing practice.
The Post-Licensure B.S. in Nursing requires 120 semester units, with many transferable from the student's prior nursing education. Credit is also awarded for passing the NCLEX-RN examination. The program includes prerequisite courses, 21 core units, and 12 specialized units for the concentration.
