Health Behavior Science examines how personal characteristics (such as race, age, abilities, and knowledge), social influences (like peer groups), and environmental factors (including park accessibility and workplace wellness initiatives) impact health and wellness throughout life. Our focus is on encouraging healthy habits and decreasing disease prevalence by creating, implementing, and assessing health initiatives that modify behaviors for individuals or specific groups. To boost career prospects, students must either minor in a recognized specialization or complete the Health and Disability concentration. Graduates of this program gain excellent preparation for roles in health education, community wellness, corporate health programs, fitness coaching, and further studies in public health, rehabilitation sciences, medical assisting, or accelerated nursing. The curriculum concludes with an internship that facilitates the transition from academic study to professional practice.
