The Bachelor of Music (B.M.) in Applied Music prepares students for professional music careers or academic positions in higher education. This specialized program focuses on mastering a primary instrument while fostering scholarly excellence and professional development in music. Admission requires an audition demonstrating proficiency on a principal instrument (including woodwinds, brass, strings, percussion, piano, classical guitar, harp, or voice).
The curriculum features intensive training in music theory, ear training, music history, piano studies, and private lessons, complemented by advanced electives like counterpoint, keyboard harmony, jazz theory, and specialized seminars. Students expand their musical knowledge through repertoire studies and ensemble work, with performance opportunities in orchestras, opera productions, chamber groups, competitions, festivals, and solo recitals.
