The 4plus1 BBE/MSR degree program is available to exceptional undergraduate students currently pursuing the BBE degree. This accelerated program enables students to obtain both BBE and MSR degrees through five years of full-time Biomedical Engineering study at the University of Delaware. Biomedical engineering (BME) utilizes quantitative engineering methods and design principles to address biological and medical challenges. BME advances understanding of disease mechanisms to enhance human health while creating innovative technologies and treatments that improve life quality. Applications range from designing rehabilitation devices for stroke patients and creating cancer drug delivery systems to modeling HIV progression, engineering cardiovascular tissues, investigating osteoarthritis development, and beyond
Our undergraduate curriculum educates students to connect engineering, medicine, and biomedical research. We deliver a design-centered program that combines comprehensive training in chemical, mechanical, materials science, and electrical engineering fundamentals with opportunities for specialization aligned with students' career objectives and personal interests. We equip students for professional roles in biomedical industries and advanced education pathways, including graduate programs, medical schools, and various healthcare professions.
