The Latin American and Iberian Studies program examines the history, geography, politics, literature, arts, and cultural traditions of Latin America and the Iberian Peninsula. Our curriculum explores diverse subjects such as native civilizations, colonial history, national identity movements, liberal ideologies, global interconnectedness, along with issues surrounding gender, racial dynamics, and socioeconomic disparities. This interdisciplinary program equips students with both practical skills and theoretical knowledge essential for academic pursuits and professional endeavors in today's interconnected world. Those pursuing a major or minor in Latin American and Iberian Studies must develop proficiency in Spanish or Portuguese, exceeding the basic language requirements set by the College of Arts and Sciences.
