The Department of Molecular and Cell Biology provides a Master of Science (MS) program specializing in Molecular and Cell Biology.
Students accepted into the MS program concentrate on one of MCB's four primary research fields: Cell and Developmental Biology, Genetics and Genomics, Microbiology, or Structural Biology, Biochemistry and Biophysics. This program is designed for individuals aiming to expand their expertise in these scientific domains, frequently as preparation for advanced graduate studies or professional training. The MCB MS degree offers two completion options: the research-focused Thesis track (Plan A) or the course-intensive Non-Thesis track (Plan B), which demands broad comprehension of the field.
Additional details can be found in the Graduate Catalog. Participants in the program will gain proficiency in MCB subjects, scientific writing, and analytical reasoning. Thesis-track students will additionally develop skills in hypothesis formulation, experimental testing, and specialized research techniques.
Individual course requirements for the Molecular and Cell Biology MS are established by each student's advisory committee, aligning with both the specialization's standards and the Graduate School's minimum criteria.
