The political science department provides a Master of Arts (MA) program focused on developing both theoretical knowledge and practical expertise across core disciplinary areas. Faculty research and instruction concentrate on fundamental domains including American government, comparative political systems, global affairs, political philosophy, and policy analysis. Additionally, the department delivers focused coursework in specialized areas such as civil liberties, jurisprudence, gender studies, ethnic relations, European affairs, indigenous governance, and metropolitan policy. MA candidates can choose between a conventional academic path or an alternative concentration examining governance, policy formation, and executive leadership. Graduates have advanced to doctoral studies nationwide and hold diverse professional roles such as public officeholders, civil servants, nonprofit executives, policy researchers, international organization staff, advocacy specialists, educators, media commentators, and campaign strategists.
