The recording arts concentration centers on modern analog and digital technologies applied to music production, live sound engineering, and multimedia projects (including web platforms, gaming audio, and interactive exhibits). As students develop technical expertise with equipment and formats, they simultaneously explore creative uses of technology for recording, amplification, musical composition, and live performances. Applicants selecting the recording arts audition track must successfully complete an entrance audition on their principal instrument or voice during the departmental application process, while also meeting progressive performance benchmarks throughout their studies.
This music curriculum equips graduates for professional opportunities in commercial performance, audio production, music industry careers, and creative entertainment fields, while also providing foundation for advanced studies at prestigious music institutions. Specifically, the Music & Entertainment Industry Studies (MEIS) department grants a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Music.
