Almost nothing in our world operates in complete isolation. Within the Integrative Biology Department at the University of Colorado Denver, we recognize, investigate, and honor how biological systems rely on one another and their environments. As a student, this approach provides you with a richer, more holistic grasp of Biology as a field. Much like our department views Biology within a larger context, we see ourselves as part of an extensive academic network. Our collaborative ties with other disciplines give you diverse options to enhance your skills and knowledge while pursuing your degree. Integrative Biology highlights how living systems interact with their ecosystems. Through this lens, you won't just study DNA in isolation, but examine its functions within human biology and global contexts. Joining our program means gaining a supportive faculty dedicated to your achievements. We've prioritized eliminating obstacles for students and remain committed to this mission, offering adaptable programs designed around your needs.
Internships provide valuable practical experience, bridging academic learning with professional environments. Whether you're preparing for employment or graduate programs, these opportunities boost your competitive edge. They can accumulate clinical hours, strengthen your resume, and provide tangible examples for future applications. Eligible students may receive up to three credits per semester (maximum six credits total) of upper-division credit through BIOL 3939 Internship, Independent Study, or Directed Study programs.
