The CLASIC program offers a standalone Professional Master of Science degree, equipping students with comprehensive training in linguistics and computer science. The curriculum includes specialized courses in data-driven linguistics, computational linguistics, and information processing. Program graduates emerge as experts in computer-based natural language processing for languages like English, Chinese, Arabic, and Urdu. Computational linguistics—also referred to as text analytics, natural language processing, and informatics—is a rapidly growing field crucial for global businesses seeking qualified professionals (see these articles: click here and here). CLASIC's interdisciplinary approach gives graduates a competitive edge, as expertise in both linguistics and computer science is essential for success in natural language processing. This program prepares students for careers in predictive text technology, search engine development, question-answering systems, virtual assistants, and machine translation.
