Planetary Geology examines the formation and chronology of celestial bodies in our solar system (including planets, moons, asteroids, comets, and ring systems) along with their surface and internal geological changes over time.

Cosmochemistry explores how matter originated, developed, and transformed throughout the cosmos, from galaxies to our solar system and planetary bodies. This field inherently involves analyzing the crucial chemical and isotopic elements that contributed to Earth's formation as our only known habitable world.

Both Cosmochemistry and Planetary Geology maintain strong connections with terrestrial scientific disciplines like Geochemistry, Petrology, Geomorphology, Geochronology, Geodynamics, and studies of Earth's Structure and Tectonics.
