The archaeology specialization offers comprehensive geographic analysis of ancient civilizations spanning from North America's Plains to Mesoamerica via the Southwest. Our research encompasses indigenous communities ranging from simple hunter-gatherer groups to complex Mesoamerican city-states and empires. Faculty expertise covers diverse areas including environmental adaptation, ethnographic archaeology, social dynamics, linguistic archaeology, stone tool and pottery studies, aerial surveying, historical catastrophes, and geophysical techniques in archaeological research.

Hold a baccalaureate degree or its equivalent from an accredited college or university. Have an undergraduate grade point average of at least 3.00.
