The University of Colorado Boulder's Political Science Department boasts a rich history of outstanding graduate education. With approximately thirty faculty members from diverse backgrounds, CU prepares graduate students for innovative research across six political science disciplines: American government, comparative politics, international relations, political philosophy, public policy, and research methodologies.
What sets our department apart is our commitment to fostering interdisciplinary cooperation. We actively promote cross-subfield projects in areas like environmental policy ethics, economic politics, municipal governance, judicial systems comparison, civic engagement studies, ethnic tensions research, emotional influences on political views, social connectivity analysis, identity-based movements, and gender-related political dynamics. Our comprehensive, methodologically diverse approach to research and instruction enhances our prominent academic standing and global recognition.
Applicants must:
Hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, or have done work equivalent to that required for such a degree.
Show promise of ability to pursue advanced study and research, as judged by the student’s scholastic record.
Have adequate preparation to enter graduate study in the chosen field. Have at least a 2.75 (2.00=C) undergraduate grade point average.
All international applicants are required to meet a minimum standard of English proficiency.
