The University of Cincinnati's Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) program equips you for a dynamic career as an athletic trainer (AT). This professional degree serves as the foundational qualification, fulfilling the requirements for both the Board of Certification (BOC) national exam and state licensing needed to practice.
Students in the program gain:
understanding of human movement biomechanics/pathomechanics and injury/illness physiology/pathophysiology,
expertise in assessing, treating, managing, referring, and rehabilitating injured or ill individuals,
skills to identify and minimize risks related to physical activity and sports,
competence in operating a sports medicine/athletic training facility,
and fundamental research design, execution, assessment, and analysis abilities.
This rigorous program follows Athletic Training Education Accreditation Standards, spanning two years of full-time coursework (six consecutive semesters). The curriculum features purposefully integrated interprofessional learning, co-curricular activities, and clinical training.
