The program welcomes students who have finished a minimum of one year of graduate studies (completing nine courses with graded credits) at the University of Chicago within a divisional degree program, or individuals possessing a JD, MBA, MD, or PhD from an accredited institution. This one-year curriculum is tailored for learners seeking to acquire essential quantitative policy analysis skills to enhance their primary field of study. Participants can customize the program to align with their prior academic experience and professional goals. The coursework includes six out of seven core MPP classes, Public Policy 30101 when applicable, plus three elective courses totaling nine classes. Those with strong foundational knowledge may request permission from the Dean of Students Office to take advanced policy core courses. Additionally, participants must prove mathematical competency by passing the algebra and calculus placement exam before graduating. This assessment is administered biannually.
