Biology explores living organisms, both historical and contemporary. The College's faculty maintains that a solid foundation in biological sciences is crucial for comprehending human existence, our environment, and addressing critical global challenges while contributing to potential solutions. Our program provides instruction across diverse disciplines, ranging from theoretical biology to hands-on experimentation, covering everything from molecular genetics to ecosystem dynamics. As part of a leading research university, all Biological Sciences Collegiate Division courses emphasize scientific inquiry, investigation, and breakthroughs. The Biological Sciences curriculum aims to provide students with: (1) knowledge of established biological principles and their experimental foundations, and (2) awareness of current knowledge gaps and potential research avenues in the discipline. The Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science with Scholar Honors (Scholar Honors) acknowledges outstanding academic achievement, requiring completion and approval of a research thesis.
