Biology explores living systems across time, from ancient to modern. The College's faculty maintains that a solid biological foundation is crucial for comprehending our existence, the natural world, and addressing critical challenges facing society while contributing to potential solutions. Our program provides instruction across diverse biological disciplines, spanning theoretical frameworks to hands-on experimentation, from molecular and genetic foundations to intricate ecosystem dynamics. As part of a leading research university, all Biological Sciences Collegiate Division courses emphasize scientific inquiry, investigation, and breakthrough discoveries. The Biological Sciences curriculum aims to provide students with: (1) mastery of established biological principles and their experimental validation, and (2) recognition of current knowledge limitations and emerging research possibilities. Bachelor of Science (BS): The BS program caters to students seeking deeper specialization through advanced coursework, research participation, and completion of a thesis documenting their investigations. Graduating BS students will: (1) master scientific experimental design, (2) contribute to research data collection, (3) critically assess research findings, (4) contextualize data within their discipline, and (5) present their work in a comprehensive BS Thesis.
