The Creative Writing Program offers an in-depth exploration of modern literature, criticism, and theory through a writer's lens, while delivering intensive instruction in core creative writing techniques. Our courses pair students with accomplished poets and authors to pursue these goals, with both the major and minor programs fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration across University divisions. This interdisciplinary focus, combined with academic excellence and a dedication to teaching foundational creative writing principles across all genres, fuels the program's dynamism and makes it the College's most substantial humanities endeavor. The Creative Writing Program provides workshops and seminars in poetry, fiction, and nonfiction, alongside a growing selection of translation courses. Graduates earning a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing will master writing in a primary literary form while gaining a theoretically grounded appreciation of the artistic, historical, social, and political dimensions of contemporary literature. Non-majors in English Language and Literature or Creative Writing can pursue an English and Creative Writing minor.
