Biology explores living organisms, both ancient and modern. The College's faculty maintains that a solid foundation in biological sciences is crucial for comprehending human existence, our environment, and addressing critical global challenges while contributing to potential solutions. Our program provides instruction across diverse disciplines, ranging from theoretical frameworks to hands-on experimentation, covering everything from molecular genetics to ecosystem dynamics. As part of a leading research university, every course in the Biological Sciences Collegiate Division emphasizes scientific inquiry, investigation, and breakthroughs. The Biological Sciences curriculum aims to provide students with: (1) knowledge of established biological principles and their experimental basis, and (2) awareness of current knowledge limitations and prospects for future scientific exploration. The Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science with Scholar Honors (Scholar Honors) acknowledges outstanding academic achievement, requiring completion and approval of a research thesis.
