The Animation and Visual Effects program is a focused curriculum that replicates real-world studio settings, offering students the chance to take on creative leadership positions. It concentrates on storytelling in film and the business side of animation, covering independent productions, studio work, and career development. Based in SVAD (School of Visual Arts and Design), this Emerging Media MFA track mirrors both professional and indie studio atmospheres while fostering artistic direction skills. The program highlights cinematic storytelling techniques and the entrepreneurial dimensions of animation, spanning independent projects, studio positions, and professional opportunities.
Tailored for aspiring animators, the curriculum introduces the teamwork dynamics of commercial studios through first-year production classes. Students also cultivate their personal filmmaking approach while developing their thesis projects throughout the three-year course. Participants may collaborate with undergraduate Character Animation students as co-directors, contributing to our collection of acclaimed films. The facilities feature professional-grade equipment and software identical to those used in industry studios.
