The Public Affairs PhD - Public Administration MPA Dual Degree Track offers high-achieving students a pathway to simultaneously obtain both a Doctor of Philosophy in Public Affairs and a Master of Public Administration. Graduates of this combined program will acquire advanced analytical skills and expertise suitable for academic positions or leadership roles in government and nonprofit organizations. Upon finishing the dual degree requirements, participants receive two separate diplomas: one for the MPA and another for the PhD.

Prospective students interested in the PhD/MPA Dual Degree must submit their application specifically to this combined track. A single application suffices for admission consideration. Successful applicants will be enrolled in both the Public Administration MPA and Public Affairs PhD programs concurrently.

Qualification Requirements

One official transcript (in a sealed envelope) from each college/university attended. Official, competitive GRE score taken within the last five years. Résumé. A writing sample. An academic paper is preferred, but the program will consider writing samples that demonstrate analytical writing (i.e. grant applications, position papers, etc.). Three letters of recommendation from faculty or professionals who can assess the applicant’s ability to succeed in a doctoral program. Academic references are strongly preferred. Applicants to this program, except those that have earned or will earn a Masters or Doctoral degree from an accredited U.S. institution recognized by UCF, who have attended a college/university outside the United States must provide a course-by-course credential evaluation with GPA calculation. Minimum UCF Requirement for TOEFL/IELTS TOEFL iBT score of 80 IELTS band score of 6.5
