Collaborating with top public health researchers, you'll master both mechanistic and quantitative biomedical research methods while focusing on one of four key study areas:
The metabolic foundations of health and illness
Immunology and infectious diseases
Gene-environment relationships
Inflammatory and stress responses
Each specialization employs biochemical, cellular, and genetic methods to study disease processes. Your research—whether fundamental or applied—will utilize state-of-the-art methodologies to enhance knowledge, therapies, and prevention strategies for globally significant human diseases.
Upon completing the program, you'll be qualified for academic positions at universities, medical schools, or research institutions, or for research roles in government agencies, consulting firms, biotech companies, or pharmaceutical organizations.
The curriculum delivers comprehensive interdisciplinary training in biomedical research approaches, equipping students for research careers through coursework in these disciplines:
Biochemistry, Genetics
Biostatistics
Cellular biology
Epidemiology
Immunology/Infectious diseases
Molecular biology
Physiology
