The Bachelor of Fine Arts program in Musical Theatre is designed for students aiming to build a professional performance career in musical theater after graduation. This intensive curriculum delivers comprehensive theater training combined with focused career preparation across all musical theater disciplines. The B.F.A. in Musical Theatre features progressive coursework in acting, movement, vocal technique, dance, music theory, and piano, enhanced by hands-on production opportunities. Integrating diverse acting, dance, and vocal techniques, the program takes a holistic approach to musical theater performance education. The initial two years concentrate on core skills in music theory, piano, acting, ballet, jazz, and musical theater vocals, prioritizing the refinement of the performer's artistic abilities. Upper-level years shift focus to advanced studio training, musical theater scene work, and repertoire development. The program concludes with a professional internship, allowing students to implement their training in actual industry settings. Although many graduates transition directly into professional work, the BFA also serves as strong preparation for theater-related graduate studies. Due to the program's demanding nature, maintaining part-time studies or external employment proves extremely difficult. The BFA maintains rigorous standards for both program admission and ongoing participation, requiring significant commitment and effort.

Qualification Requirements

Students whose first language is not English may be required to demonstrate English proficiency by one of the following means:
Proving youre from a country where English is the only official language
Establishing that a prior bachelor's, master's or doctoral degree was earned from another accredited institution of higher education (meeting university transfer eligibility requirements) in the United States
Establishing that a prior bachelor's, master's or doctoral degree was earned from a country where English is the only official language or from a university at which English is the only official language of instruction
Submitting a qualifying score (220 or higher for computer-based, 80 or higher for internet-based or 550 or higher for paper-based) on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or a score of 6.5 or higher on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
A minimum 520 EBRW rSAT score, 480 Critical Reading SAT score, 20 ACT (English section), or 42 CLT (Verbal Reasoning plus Grammar/Writing)
Presenting a minimum grade of B in both English Composition I and English Composition II, or the equivalent, taken at another accredited institution of higher education (meeting university transfer eligibility requirements) in the United States
Completion of four years of English in an American high school in the United States
