The Bachelor of Fine Arts program in Musical Theatre is designed for students aiming to build a professional performance career in musical theater after graduation. This intensive curriculum delivers comprehensive theater training combined with focused career preparation across all musical theater disciplines. The B.F.A. in Musical Theatre features progressive coursework in acting, movement, vocal technique, dance, music theory, and piano, enhanced by hands-on production opportunities. Integrating diverse acting, dance, and vocal techniques, the program takes a holistic approach to musical theater performance education. The initial two years concentrate on core skills in music theory, piano, acting, ballet, jazz, and musical theater vocals, prioritizing the refinement of the performer's artistic abilities. Upper-level years shift focus to advanced studio training, musical theater scene work, and repertoire development. The program concludes with a professional internship, allowing students to implement their training in actual industry settings. Although many graduates transition directly into professional work, the BFA also serves as strong preparation for theater-related graduate studies. Due to the program's demanding nature, maintaining part-time studies or external employment proves extremely difficult. The BFA maintains rigorous standards for both program admission and ongoing participation, requiring significant commitment and effort.
