Pursuing a B.M. in Music Performance with a focus on one of 14 instruments or voice, you'll receive personalized one-on-one instruction from our exceptional faculty throughout your program. Our instructors are active performers—including instrumental soloists, opera singers, orchestral musicians, and world-class educators. You'll gain hands-on experience through class recitals, chamber music performances, and participation in major ensembles like chamber choir, orchestra, wind ensemble, brass choir, contemporary music groups, and our yearly opera production. Your coursework in music history, theory, and analysis will be taught by distinguished professors who are leading scholars in doctoral-level programs. Our extensive music library, stocked with scores, literature, and recordings, will be at your disposal. During your junior and senior years, you'll present a public recital in one of our three premier concert venues, preparing you for the demands of solo performance while building skills for teaching or advanced study. The program also features frequent masterclasses with internationally touring artists visiting Santa Barbara, along with opportunities to engage with celebrated composers.
