The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) covers a wide spectrum of disciplines, including digital systems, computer technology, control systems, telecommunications, electronic circuits, signal analysis, electromagnetic fields, optoelectronics, semiconductor physics, and manufacturing processes. Like other engineering fields, it integrates mathematical and scientific principles with core engineering concepts to develop, model, and create technological solutions that serve societal needs. The department provides advanced degree programs (M.S. and Ph.D.) with three primary focus areas: Computer Engineering (CE), Communications, Control and Signal Processing (CCSP), and Electronics & Photonics (EP)
The graduate programs are open to those who have a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, other areas of engineering, or in mathematics, physics, or other related fields of science. Applicants with degrees in fields other than electrical and computer engineering or computer science may be required to complete undergraduate prerequisite courses.
