The Department of Applied Science is a multidisciplinary graduate program primarily centered on doctoral studies, while also providing select Master of Science degree options. Students can tailor both degrees to specialize in various physical and natural science concentrations. Each graduate works closely with their advisory committee to design a personalized academic path aligned with their career aspirations. Our diverse student body brings varied academic backgrounds and professional objectives to the program. New graduate students engage in coursework, faculty mentorship, peer collaboration, and seminar participation as part of their educational journey. The curriculum's coursework element is exceptionally adaptable, developed collaboratively between students and their faculty advisors. The Applied Science Ph.D. program provides full financial support, including a $31,000 annual Research Assistantship along with tuition coverage and health benefits.
To fulfill degree requirements, candidates must complete either: 1) 30 graduate credit hours plus an original thesis (approved by their committee and defended orally), or 2) 32 graduate credit hours including the Applied Science 710 Research Project course.
