The Media Arts and Technology (MAT) program is a cross-disciplinary graduate initiative that provides exceptional opportunities to explore the cutting edge where art, science, and technology converge, fostering innovative artistic expressions and pioneering new media tools. MAT awards both MS and Ph.D. degrees, encompassing diverse research areas such as electronic sound and music, visual/spatial arts, human-machine interfaces, tactile feedback systems, information visualization, and multimedia systems engineering. The program's structure aims to give students comprehensive media arts training while encouraging original thinking and advanced research that expands creative boundaries, facilitates team-based interdisciplinary projects, and develops practical skills for careers in emerging media domains. Interdisciplinary collaboration forms the core of MAT's approach. Academic mentors guide students in tailoring elective coursework based on individual expertise and aspirations.
