The undergraduate Jewelry and Metalwork program offers comprehensive training in techniques, processes, and conceptual development to prepare students for careers as modern designers, makers, and artists. In a fully-equipped studio with supportive instruction, learners take practical courses covering essential skills like fabrication, casting, surface treatments, coloring methods, and digital applications—all taught by faculty with extensive artistic and technical knowledge.
The program focuses on equally developing technical precision and creative vision, inspiring students to expand their artistic boundaries while mastering craft skills. Student projects span from wearable art and functional objects to experimental pieces that explore jewelry and metalwork's cultural and domestic significance.
Participants can join the Jewelry Students Coop, which organizes yearly sales events. Members gain experience securing funding to bring internationally acclaimed guest artists and workshops to campus.
This interdisciplinary program encourages students to blend diverse interests, cultivating varied viewpoints that prepare them for the evolving world of contemporary craft, art, and design.
