Feminist Studies is a cross-disciplinary field that generates groundbreaking research and promotes dynamic, imaginative teaching. Our scholars examine how gender dynamics—intersecting with factors like race, class, ethnicity, sexuality, nationality, ability, and other dimensions of difference—are woven into social, political, and cultural structures. We focus on three primary areas: race and nationalism, gender identities and sexual orientations, and labor related to both production and reproduction. The Department stands out as one of the few institutions providing a Ph.D. program in this discipline for aspiring university researchers and educators.
