Global Studies is an interdisciplinary domain focused on examining globalization through diverse lenses, considering its multifaceted, layered, and historical nature. It integrates social science and humanities perspectives to assess the societal, cultural, political, ecological, and financial impacts of worldwide systems, structures, and developments. Research in Global Studies is driven by addressing current cross-border societal challenges using various theoretical frameworks and analytical approaches.

Our graduate candidates collaborate extensively with 17 primary Global Studies professors alongside more than 20 affiliated scholars from various university departments, offering exposure to broad academic perspectives. The geographical, subject-specific, and research methodologies of our faculty indicate the most appropriate graduate study paths within UCSB's Global Studies program. Future students should prioritize identifying resident, tenure-track professors available during their study period as potential research supervisors and academic guides.
