The department provides an elective specialization in Financial Mathematics and Statistics (FMS) for doctoral candidates. This FMS focus enables students to concentrate on the growing discipline of financial mathematics and statistical analysis. Through the Center for Research in Financial Mathematics and Statistics, students gain exceptional opportunities to collaborate with an active research community employing interdisciplinary methods in financial mathematics. Candidates wishing to pursue the FMS Specialization must submit their application prior to their preliminary oral qualifying examination and before advancing to candidacy. The graduate program is open to students who have a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or other closely related fields, with an overall minimum GPA of 3.0 or equivelant.
